A strategy for deepening cooperation with the Islamic world within the “Greater Eurasian Partnership” framework will be discussed on the sidelines of KazanForum.
On 14 May, a topical session titled “The Greater Eurasian Partnership: A Development Strategy” will be held as part of the 17th International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum”. The policy for establishing the Greater Eurasian Partnership, a framework for cooperation that brings together such powers as the EAEU, the CIS, BRICS, the SCO, China’s Belt and Road Initiative, as well as the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, serves as the key point of the Session, as prompted by Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation.
The “Russia – Islamic World” Strategic Vision Group hosts the event with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA), and the International Organisation for Eurasian Cooperation. Farit Mukhametshin, Doctor of Political Sciences, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Adviser to the Chairman of the “Russia – Islamic World” Strategic Vision Group, will moderate the Session.
“The Greater Eurasian Partnership is intended to function as a system of open and flexible cooperation, with the countries of the Islamic world taking centre stage. Today, we are moving from discussions to the practical implementation of this initiative through specific projects and joint decisions,” Farit Mukhametshin remarked.
The discussion will feature members of the “Russia – Islamic World” Strategic Vision Group; leading Russian and foreign diplomats; as well as representatives of integration associations, academic community, government bodies, business community; and the journalists.
Furthermore, the Session will also engage representatives of international organisations, public authorities, and the expert community from Russia and other countries as Speakers, including Majed Al-Turki, Doctor of Political Sciences, Director of the Centre of Information and Russian Arabian Studies (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia); Dmitry Birichevsky, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Director of the Department of Economic Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation; Ezzat Saad, member of the “Russia – Islamic World” Strategic Vision Group, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Chairman of the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs; Grigory Karasin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation; Ruslan Korchagin, Director of the Institute of Public Administration and Civil Service at the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA); Dmitry Stasyulis, Russia’s Sherpa to the Civic 20 (C20), President of the International Organisation for Eurasian Cooperation; and Vadim Khomenko, Professor, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, President of the “Economic Society of the Republic of Tatarstan”.

The Organisers hope that the dialogue will not only provide an opportunity to discuss a forward looking vision for the development of the Greater Eurasian Partnership, but also help identify specific areas of cooperation between participating states against the backdrop of the emerging multipolar world order.
